How to Change Your Name in LoL: Riot ID Steps

Your visible League of Legends name is now tied to Riot ID, which contains a Game Name and Tagline. It is separate from the username used to sign in.
Steps
- Open Riot's official account management page and sign in to the correct account.
- Select Riot ID.
- Enter the new Game Name and Tagline.
- Pass the availability check and save.
- If the client is open, restart it and sign in again.
Cooldown and safety
Change frequency and eligibility rules can be updated, so follow the current date shown on the account page. Older server taglines may not always be reusable. Never enter credentials on a “free name change” link; use only Riot's official domain.

Is the LoL display name the same as the login username?
No. Riot ID appears in game, while the sign-in username is separate account data.
