VALORANT Codes vs VP Codes: What’s the Difference?

A VALORANT content or promo code is not automatically a VP code. A VP code adds prepaid balance to a compatible Riot account; it does not directly unlock a specific skin. A content code may instead grant a player card, spray, title, gun buddy or another named reward.

Where do you redeem each code?

VP codes are normally entered in the VALORANT client under Prepaid Cards & Codes. Content or promotion codes must be redeemed through the method stated in Riot’s official instructions, including Riot Code Redemption when applicable.

What should you check before buying?

  • Which game and platform the code supports
  • The account and code region
  • Expiry and single-use conditions
  • Whether the listing promises VP or a specific item

The label “Riot code” alone does not guarantee VP. Read the product name, nominal value and region. For balance details, see the VALORANT VP guide. If redemption fails, use the code troubleshooting guide.

Are free code lists reliable?

Only rely on active-code announcements from official Riot channels. Old lists shared by communities may contain expired, region-limited or already-used codes. Never post a full code publicly.
