How Long Is One VALORANT Round and Match?
Learn how long one VALORANT round and a full match take, including the 1:40 round clock, 45-second Spike timer, overtime and shorter modes.
In VALORANT, “one round” and “one match” are different: plan roughly 2–3 minutes for a standard Spike round including buy and transition time, and commonly 30–45 minutes for a full Unrated or Competitive match.
How long can one standard round take?
After the buy phase, attackers normally have 1 minute 40 seconds to win the round or plant the Spike. A successful plant starts a separate 45-second detonation timer. Defuse attempts, post-round screens and the next buy phase add time around the live action. A fast elimination can end the round much earlier.
That is why “2–5 minutes per round” is too broad as a normal estimate. Most rounds fit near the lower part of that range; technical pauses or custom rules are separate cases.
How long is a full match?
Standard play is first to 13 rounds, with sides swapping after 12 rounds. A one-sided game can finish in under 30 minutes, while a close Competitive match with overtime can pass 45 minutes and occasionally approach or exceed an hour. Queue, Agent Select and loading time are extra, so leave a buffer before starting ranked.
Shorter modes
- Team Deathmatch: Riot specifies a 9 minute 30 second match timer.
- Spike Rush: Riot describes matches as about 8–12 minutes.
- Rotating modes: rules and availability can change; check the current queue panel.
Map name alone does not determine duration; scoreline, plants, saves, timeouts and overtime matter more. For account-compatible credit, see VALORANT Points.
