How to Play Against Bots in VALORANT

VALORANT now includes official bot-based training, so the old claim that bots were only a future possibility is outdated. However, it is not a general offline mode: you cannot replace missing players with AI in Competitive, Unrated or a normal custom lobby.

Open Basic Training and The Range

1. Launch VALORANT and open the Play or Practice menu shown by your client.
2. Select Basic Training to review shooting, abilities and match basics, or The Range for repeatable aim practice.
3. At the shooting station, choose the available bot drill and difficulty, then adjust armour, movement or streak options shown on its panel.

Riot introduced the new Basic Training and an optional Bot Training Match on console in Patch 8.11, then brought Basic Training and The Range to PC in Patch 9.02. New players can be offered a full bot-training Swiftplay match on Haven after the tutorial. Availability of replaying that match can depend on account onboarding and the current client menu.

What bots can and cannot do

• The Range: best for crosshair placement, burst control, flicks, movement stops and Agent ability testing.
• Bot Training Match: a guided beginner match with AI teammates and opponents, when the client offers it.
• Regular queues: Deathmatch, Unrated and Competitive are player-versus-player; bots are not an optional fill setting.
• Custom Game: useful for walking maps and testing lineups, but it does not provide a button to populate a normal match with AI players.

If Bot Training is missing, use The Range and Swiftplay rather than downloading mods or automation tools. Third-party bot software can violate Riot rules and put the account at risk. For account credit information, see the VALORANT Points guide.
