How to Bunny Hop in VALORANT

Learn the correct VALORANT bunny-hop rhythm with jump timing, A/D air strafes and mouse movement—without macros or scripts.

A bunny hop, usually shortened to bhop, links jumps together while you steer in the air. In VALORANT, it is a movement skill—not a guaranteed permanent speed boost. Clean timing can make your path less predictable and help you move smoothly, but jumping also makes your gun inaccurate.

Correct bunny-hop input

  1. Build forward momentum with W, then jump with Space.
  2. Once airborne, release W. Hold A while gently moving the mouse left, or hold D while moving it right.
  3. Press jump again at the instant you touch the ground.
  4. Alternate left and right air strafes while keeping the mouse movement smooth.

The direction pairing matters: A + mouse left turns left; D + mouse right turns right. Holding conflicting movement keys or flicking the mouse too hard breaks the rhythm. Start slowly and focus on landing timing before trying longer chains.

Spacebar or mouse wheel?

Spacebar works perfectly. Some PC players also bind Jump to Mouse Wheel Up or Down because repeated wheel inputs can make the landing window easier to hit. Set this only through VALORANT's in-game Controls menu. Do not use macros, scripts or automated input tools.

How to practice

  • Enter the Practice Range or a Custom Game.
  • Try two linked jumps first, then extend the chain.
  • Keep the crosshair at head height instead of staring at the floor.
  • Watch your route: movement is useful only when it takes you toward cover or a clear objective.

Common mistakes

Keeping W held through every jump, using A to turn right, pressing S as a side strafe, or shooting mid-air will make the technique feel inconsistent. Bhop is situational movement; stop, let movement error settle and then take the duel when accuracy matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does bunny hopping make you permanently faster in VALORANT?
No. It is mainly a timing and air-strafing technique. It can make movement smoother or less predictable, but it does not guarantee a permanent speed boost.
Can I bind jump to the mouse wheel?
Yes, through VALORANT's Controls menu. Avoid macros or scripts; use only normal in-game key bindings.
