VALORANT is an American game. It was developed and published by Riot Games, a video game company headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Riot describes VALORANT as its first tactical first-person shooter, so the clearest answer to “what country is VALORANT from?” is the United States.
Who developed VALORANT?
Riot Games created and operates VALORANT. The studio revealed the project under the codename Project A in 2019. The PC closed beta started on 7 April 2020 in selected regions, including Europe and Turkey, and ended on 28 May. The full game launched worldwide on 2 June 2020 as a free-to-play title.
Do servers or agents change the game's country?
No. Regional servers, translated menus and local support determine where and how you play; they do not change the developer's home country. VALORANT also has agents and locations inspired by many cultures. That global setting is part of the game world, not evidence that it was developed in one of those countries.
Origin, publisher and account region are different
- Origin: United States, because Riot Games is based in Los Angeles.
- Developer and publisher: Riot Games.
- Account region: Your shard affects servers, latency, available payment methods and who you can queue with.
If you play on the Turkish shard, this does not make VALORANT a Turkish game. It simply means your account and matchmaking are assigned to that service region. For points and bundles available to your account, visit the VALORANT Points page.
