Best VALORANT Minimap Settings and What They Do
Configure VALORANT minimap rotation, centering, size, zoom, vision cones and region names with practical starting values and clear trade-offs.
A useful VALORANT minimap should show nearby detail without cutting off rotations. Go to Settings → General → Map. A solid PC starting point is Rotate: On, Keep Player Centered: Off, Minimap Size: about 1.1, Minimap Zoom: about 0.9, Vision Cones: On, and Map Region Names: Always. Adjust size and zoom until the full playable area remains readable on your screen.
Rotate or Fixed?
Rotate keeps your facing direction at the top and can make quick movement calls more intuitive. Fixed keeps the map orientation consistent, which helps players who memorise callouts by layout. If you choose Fixed, use the orientation option that places your starting side at the bottom if that feels easier. Neither choice improves aim or enemy detection by itself.
Centered, size, and zoom
Turning Keep Player Centered off usually shows more of the map and helps track teammate positions and rotations. Higher zoom gives local detail but can crop distant information; on console, Riot forces Keep Player Centered on above 1.0 zoom to prevent an unusable view. Treat 1.1 size and 0.9 zoom as a baseline, not a pro setting.
Information options
Keep Vision Cones on to understand what teammates can see. Region names help learn callouts; switch them to Always while learning and reduce them later if they add clutter. The minimap only displays information your team has revealed, so use pings and comms instead of assuming an unseen area is clear.
