How to Play Reyna in VALORANT: 2026 Guide
Master Reyna Leer, Devour, Dismiss and Empress with the 2026 Soul Orb and overheal changes, attack, defense and economy.
How do you play Reyna in VALORANT? She is a Duelist whose value depends on winning a fight and making the right Soul Orb decision. Set up the first duel with Leer; use Devour when health is genuinely low and Dismiss when a second enemy can trade you. Since Patch 12.02, an Orb lasts only three seconds and Devour overheal disappears after ten seconds. Decide quickly, but do not auto-spend every charge.
Reyna's role
Reyna amplifies her own duel. Leer can open a team window, but she has no dash, satchel or broad space-control tool to clear every defensive angle alone. Swing with team flash or info, then escape with Dismiss or prepare the next duel with Devour. Compare Duelists in the VALORANT agent guide.
Abilities
Leer
Throw the destructible eye through walls to nearsight enemies who look at it within range. Opponents can shoot it or change their view. Place it high or sideways so it pulls crosshairs away, then swing with a teammate while active. Throwing it far too early wastes the opening.
Soul Orb
An enemy Reyna damaged can drop an Orb when a teammate finishes them shortly afterward. Patch 12.02 makes it remain for three seconds. Devour and Dismiss share limited charges, so consider the next fight. Do not stand exposed simply to consume an unsafe Orb.
Devour
Consume an Orb to heal rapidly; health over the normal cap becomes overheal. Outside Empress, Patch 12.02 makes that overheal temporary for ten seconds. It is not permanent armor, so plan the next contact if you want its value. Healing during Empress remains permanent. Devour never blocks bullets; use cover and team support.
Dismiss
Consume an Orb to become intangible briefly, during which Reyna cannot fire. Use it when a trade is coming, utility lands on you or the kill left you exposed. During Empress, Dismiss also makes Reyna invisible. It does not protect teammates or repair a poor entry route; choose your exit cover before the kill.
Empress
Patch 12.02 raised its cost from six to seven ult points. Empress puts Reyna in a frenzy that improves combat tempo, automatically applies Devour healing on a takedown and makes Dismiss invisible. It does not directly increase bullet damage or guarantee free movement speed. Kills renew the duration, so prepare the first duel with team utility.
Attack plan
- Call the angle Leer will disrupt.
- Place the eye away from head level and swing together.
- After a kill, read the trade threat before choosing Devour or Dismiss.
- Dismiss into cover rather than letting it expire among enemies.
- After gaining an advantage, regroup for a post-plant crossfire.
Recon improves Leer timing; use the Sova guide.
Defense and economy
Use Leer to delay a choke or support an off-angle. If the second attacker can trade, choose Dismiss over greedy healing. Change aggressive setups across rounds. Do not save Empress only for an ace: use it in a strong gun round where winning first contact can preserve the advantage. On a weak buy, follow the team's trade and weapon-save plan rather than forcing a low-percentage duel.
In a double-Duelist comp, sync Leer with Jett's dash via the Jett guide.
Common mistakes
- Pressing Devour on every Orb.
- Treating ten-second overheal as permanent armor.
- Throwing Leer before the team is ready or at easy crosshair height.
- Thinking Dismiss protects an ally.
- Assuming Empress increases bullet damage.
- Leaving trade distance and post-plant structure to chase kills.
Practice
Drill short sprays with Empress's changed rhythm. After every kill in practice, answer “low health or incoming trade?” within one second to automate the decision. In review, mark team entries created by Leer, weapons saved by Dismiss and wasted Orbs, not only the frag count.
