How to Play Sage in VALORANT: Current Ability Guide

Use Sage's Barrier Orb, Slow Orb, Healing Orb and Resurrection better in defense, attack, retakes and post-plant situations.

How to play Sage in VALORANT is not just “heal your teammates.” As a Sentinel, Sage stalls hits with Barrier Orb and Slow Orb, creates safer plants or defuses, and changes round economy with Healing Orb and Resurrection.

Ability usage

Barrier Orb: its cast range is 15 m after Patch 11.04. Use the wall after contact to split a rush, protect a planter, block retake sightlines or force noisy breaks. It is destructible, so avoid the same predictable wall every round.

Slow Orb: throw it on a choke when you hear the hit, after the wall breaks, or during post-plant. Chain the second orb near the end of the first instead of stacking both.

Healing Orb: Patch 13.00 increased Sage's self heal-over-time from 50 to 100. Heal from cover and prioritize the player most likely to keep impacting the round.

Resurrection: revive range is 12 m. Clear or block the body first with smoke, wall or team fire; a reachable body is not automatically a safe rez.

Round plan

On attack, stay in trade range, save wall for plant or retake denial and use slows on audio cues. On defense, stall long enough for rotations, then reposition when the wall breaks. In retakes, a defuse wall helps only if spam and mollies are accounted for.
