VALORANT Chat Keys: Text and Voice

Fast comms matter in VALORANT, but “chat key” can mean two different things: text chat or voice push-to-talk. Use the correct channel so a callout reaches your teammates instead of the enemy team or only your premade party.

Text-chat keys

• Enter: opens Team text chat in the usual PC layout.
• Shift + Enter: opens All chat.
• /all: switches the current text message to All chat.
• Esc: closes the chat field without sending.

Check the channel label beside the input before pressing Enter. Use Team chat for useful callouts such as enemy location, damage dealt or a rotation. All chat is visible to both teams, so never post tactics, private details or anything you would not want the lobby to read.

Voice-chat push-to-talk

On common default PC bindings, V is Team Voice Push To Talk and U is Party Voice Push To Talk. Custom keybinds can change these. Open Settings → Controls → Communication to see or reassign the current buttons, then check Settings → Audio → Voice Chat for input device and channel options.

If chat does not work

1. Confirm that you are using Team, Party or All—the intended channel.
2. Check the input/output device and run a mic test.
3. Look for a conflicting keybind and assign a free key.
4. Restart Riot Client after closing apps that may take exclusive control of the microphone.
5. Remember that a communication restriction or mute can prevent normal use.

Keep comms short during a round: location, number of enemies, damage and utility are more valuable than a long explanation. Mute and report abusive players instead of extending the argument.
