How to Change TR1 in VALORANT: Riot ID Tagline Guide

A VALORANT name is a Riot ID with two parts: a game name and a tagline, displayed like Name#Tag. A TR1-style suffix is a tagline; changing it does not move the account to another region, change the server shard, or alter the private username used to sign in.

Change the Riot ID and tagline

1. Open account.riotgames.com and sign in to the correct Riot Account.
2. Open the Riot ID section.
3. Edit the game name, the tagline, or both. The game name must be 3–16 alphanumeric characters and the tagline 3–5 alphanumeric characters.
4. Save the change, then restart the Riot Client if the old ID remains cached.

Riot currently provides a free Riot ID change once every 90 days. There is no paid Riot ID change or special name-change card. If harassment or another serious negative effect involves a recently changed ID, Riot says Player Support may review an exception through a ticket.

Why can TR1 or another region tag be rejected?

Default taglines may begin as old region codes. After you replace one, Riot does not allow many reserved region tags to be selected again. This includes codes such as TR and other legacy server identifiers. If the form says the Riot ID is already in use, choose a different 3–5 character tagline and check the full Name#Tag combination.

What the change does not affect

• Your login username and password stay separate from the public Riot ID.
• Your account region, currency and matchmaking shard do not change.
• The Riot ID changes how you appear across Riot games tied to that account.
