How to Play Fade in VALORANT
Learn Fade's Initiator role, Haunt, Seize, Prowler and Nightfall, plus practical recon, entry and post-plant combos for your team.
Fade is a Turkish Initiator in VALORANT, introduced in Patch 4.08 in 2022—not a new agent today. Her kit gathers close-to-mid-range information, creates Terror Trails and helps teammates clear space. She is strongest when utility is followed by a coordinated swing rather than thrown without a plan.
Fade's abilities
- Haunt (E): throw a watcher that lands after a delay. Once active, it reveals enemies in line of sight and creates Terror Trails. Reuse the ability to drop it early. Enemies can destroy it, so vary your lineups and timing.
- Seize (Q): throw a knot of fear that bursts on landing, tethering nearby enemies while applying deafen and decay. Drop it early when needed. Combine it with damaging utility rather than wide-swinging alone.
- Prowler (C): send a Prowler forward and steer it while holding the fire input. It can follow a Terror Trail or lock onto an enemy it sees; a hit applies Nearsight. Use it to clear close corners before your duelist entries.
- Nightfall (X): send a large wave through terrain. Hit enemies are marked with trails, deafened and affected by decay. Following current balance changes, coordinate quickly because the information and debuffs are time-limited.
Simple Fade round plan
- Use Haunt from cover to scan the site or force defenders to shoot it.
- Send Prowler along a revealed trail or through the most dangerous close angle.
- Call the result so your duelist can entry while defenders are distracted or nearsighted.
- Keep Seize for a choke, plant denial or a combo with grenade, molly or other damage utility.
Useful combos
Seize pairs well with Raze Paint Shells, Brimstone Incendiary, Sova Shock Bolt and similar area damage because tethered enemies have less room to escape. Nightfall is best followed by a fast site hit, retake or hunter sequence; the ult itself does not win the duel for you.
Common mistakes
Throwing Haunt into the same exposed spot, sending Prowler without a teammate ready, and using every ability before the execute leaves Fade with no follow-up. Communicate which corner you are clearing, wait for the Prowler to make contact and keep your gun ready after utility.
