For a VALORANT VAN 9003 fix, do not begin by disabling antivirus or resetting your network. Vanguard is unable to validate Secure Boot as required. Press Windows + R, run msinfo32, and check BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State.
Expected values
- BIOS Mode: UEFI
- Secure Boot State: On
If both are correct, restart, finish Windows and Riot Client updates, and test again. If Secure Boot is Off, identify the exact PC or motherboard model and use only its official firmware guide. Menu names and key management differ by vendor.
If BIOS Mode says Legacy
Stop before switching the setting. Secure Boot needs UEFI, but a Legacy installation may use an MBR system disk. Switching directly to UEFI can make Windows unbootable. Confirm whether the disk is MBR or GPT, keep a current backup, and make sure any BitLocker recovery key is accessible before a supported conversion.
Avoid unsafe shortcuts
Do not disable Windows Security, open random firewall ports, erase Secure Boot keys blindly, turn off CSM without checking the disk, or flash BIOS from another model. VAN 9003 is not a connection-speed error.
If msinfo32 shows UEFI and Secure Boot On but the error remains, update Vanguard, reboot, and send Riot Support the error screenshot, Windows version, msinfo32 values and Riot Repair Tool logs—never secret keys.
